The Living Care Chaplain Ministry
Since we believe spiritual health is as important as physical and mental health, Living Care Retirement Community employs a dedicated team of Chaplains who provide spiritual care for the residents and staff on our campus and to other members in our community through outreach services.
While Living Care Retirement Community holds to Christian biblical teachings, our Chaplains respect all residents and recognize that they may have other religious views. Our goal is to always be a source of comfort and encouragement to those in need.
Meet our chaplains.
Todd Guldjord, Chaplain
Todd Guldjord has served as a chaplain on the Living Care campus since 1999 and holds a Master of Arts in pastoral studies with a family ministry emphasis. Todd worked for a while as an ophthalmic technologist prior to coming to Living Care so many residents still come to him with questions about their eyes! Todd and his wife have 3 children and enjoy spending time outdoors hiking and fishing. When asked what Todd likes about Living Care, he says, “There is a real sense of having opportunity to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of the residents and staff here.”
Rick Bradley, Chaplain
Rick Bradley came to Living Care in 2010 and has served as pastor or chaplain in the Yakima area for over 20 years, including working as a hospice chaplain. Rick holds a Bachelor of Science in Biblical education from Multnomah University and a Bachelor of Arts in music and vocal performance from William Tyndale College. You will often find Rick singing somewhere on the campus, leading our resident chorus, singing happy birthday to residents, etc. His guitar is never very far away and on occasion he brings out his trumpet, too. Rick cherishes the opportunity to provide spiritual support to residents of Living Care and their families during times of rejoicing and also the times of sorrow.
Phil Lavik, Chaplain
Phil Lavik started his position of chaplain for Living Care in 2006 and is a board certified chaplain from the Healthcare Chaplains Ministry Association. Among other degrees, Phil has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Northwest Graduate School of the Ministry. Fun fact, Phil also has a pilot’s license. Phil has had the opportunity to travel to 32 different countries so far, including leading trips to Israel and neighboring countries. He used to play baseball and still enjoys an occasional leisure activity such as golfing. Phil and his wife Christine have been married 45 years. He loves working for an organization with good leadership and caring staff, all who have a commitment to our organizations core values.
